Precious Chance passes away

After a valiant battle with a rare form of leukemia, the amazing  Chance Tetrick passed away August 4, 2014. His father, Jeff, posted the following on Chance's Facebook page:

"We want each of you to know that our sweet and precious Chance is now resting with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior.  Jenn and I spent a beautiful day with Chance. We are proud of him for being a great kid and for knowing Jesus.  God blessed us with a beautiful boy.  Chance will forever live in our hearts.  We love you forever, Chance!"

Ole Miss Rebel Football Players attended Chance's funeral as a team and offered their condolences to his parents, one by one.

Chance continues to serve as an inspiration to the team and the coaching staff.  At practice on August 4th--the same day of Chance's funeral--Coach Freeze told reporters assembled how Chance fought hard every single day until the end, and how he hopes his players will recognize the importance of fighting hard through all obstacles--as Chance did.

It is our hope that Chance's family--after facing so much since his diagnosis in February, 2013--will be able to grieve without being forced to also worry about the many financial obligations with which they are now faced.

"Fins Up!"

"Fins Up!" is the battle cry of the Ole Miss Rebel Defense, the fierce football group known as the Landsharks.  The Landshark symbol was first used by former Rebel player, Tony Fein.  Sadly, Fein has since passed away, but the spirit with which he conducted himself is still alive and well, both on the football field and in the hearts of Rebels everywhere.

Chance Tetrick, pictured at left, embodied the tough, "Fins Up!" mentality, as he fought the fierce battle against leukemia.  Chance was a die-hard Rebel fan who REMAINS an example of perseverance, faith, and strength.
